Sri Subir Mukherjee - a hidden genius in Santipur, Nadia, both santoor maker and player started learning tabla at an early age - was a disciple of Pt. Sankar Ghosh - his artistic sense was also exposed in the form of making Suromandal - played suromandal with stick in classical concerts - later perfected the art by making Santoor - played santoor with no formal talim - came into contact with Sandip Chatterjee, a well-known Santoor player, attended his classes to perfect the art of playing santoor - his santoors with some innovations have been exported abroad.
Sri Arijit Kastha
Sri Arijit Kastha, a close disciple of renowned tabla player Subhankar Banerjee, passed B.A. and M.A. in Tabla from Rabindra Bharati University, first in Nehru Talent Search Contest in 1999, scholarship from Kajalrekha Musical Foundation in memory of Subhankar Banerjee’s Mother in 2008, third in Dover Lane Talent Search Contest in 2008, National Scholarship in 2009.
