Shakir Khan belongs to the 8th generation of the famous Etawah Gharana. He is the eldest son and disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Shakir gave his first public recital at the age of 11. He has performed in prestigious music conferences in India including the Dover Lane Music Conference (Kolkata), Saptak Music Festival (Ahmedabad), Bombay Festival (Mumbai) and many more. He has also performed in the U.S and Europe.
Shakir has had the honor of accompanying his father on stage and has been appreciated as a prodigious talent by great masters such as Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ustad Zakir Hussain. The ghazal maestro, Ghulam Ali, was so impressed by Shakir’s playing that he insisted on taking him into the recording studio.
Shakir Khan is a promising and talented young artist with an exquisite sense of sur and laya reflected through his performance. He has distinguished himself by winning a Government of India merit scholarship and first prize at the All India Radio (AIR) Music Competition. Shakir’s academic accomplishments include a Masters in Music from Lalit Kalakendra University of Pune.
He recently performed in the famous Woodstock Festival in Poland.
HINDOL MAJUMDAR
Hindol has already occupied a commendable position amongst the young tabla players in the country of this generation. He had his initial training from Sri Shibsankar Karmakar, a worthy disciple of late Ustad Keramatullah Khan. He has been taking advanced talims from tabla maestro Pandit Sankha Chatterjee of the Punjab Gharana, the school made famous by Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. At Present, he is also taking taalim from Pt. Sudhir Mainkar a worthy disciple of Ustad Anamalli Khan. He is a graded artist of All India Radio and Television (India). He has performed in all major conferences in India and abroad (especially USA, Canada & Europe).
