To sing soulfully, invoking the Divine Presence, is the priceless quality Durba Bhattacharyya possesses. Imbibing music from her parents, she was brought under the tutelage of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty when she became a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta. Later she also learnt from Shrimati Meera Banerjee. Since 1997, Durba has been taking taalim of the subtlest nuances of Raga music from her husband Shri Shantanu Bhattacharyya, the well-known vocalist. Performing widely all over India, Durba has also regaled hundreds of music lovers in France, England, USA and Singapore and has recorded several cassettes & CDs of Bhajans.
Shantanu Bhattacharyya
The serene, tranquil music of Shantanu Bhattacharyya elevates the listeners to the highest realms of psychic consciousness. Gifted with immaculate sur, he was groomed in music by his mother. Shantanu later learned profusely from Pandit Sukhendu Goswami, Pandit Prasun Banerjee, Shrimati Meera Banerjee and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, associating also with other great maestros at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta. He has won numerous awards of esteem and has performed in the major Sangeet Sammelans of the country as well as in USA, UK, France, Germany, Finland and Singapore. He has many albums of Khayal, Thumri and Bhajan, and of his own music compositions on Meditation.
