Twilight

Born in an aroma of music, Mita is the sixth generation musician of the Nag Family of Instrumentalists hailing from the Vishnupur School of Music, Bengal. She was initiated into sitar playing at the age of four years by her grandfather Sangeetacharya GOKUL NAG of VISHNUPUR GHARANA and received regular training from her earnest parents. As a child performer she amazed the audience in Kolkata at the age of ten in her debut appearance in the International Year of the Child, 1979. The same year she received the Junior Talent Search Scholarship of the Govt. of India.
As a soloist and in duet-recitals with her illustrious father, she has toured different cities of Europe, Canada, USA and Japan, besides performing regularly within the country. She is also founder and trustee of Gokul Nag Memorial Foundation, and institution forthe promotion of Classical Music Heritage and is recipient of Fellowship Award of the Govt. of India.
