Gauri Guha is an established and highly acclaimed professional North Indian classical vocalist and recipient of many grants from the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council.Gauri is a senior disciple of Pandit A. Kanan, Bidushi Malabika Kanan and Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.Gauri achieved first class in Sangit Visharad (Bachelor in Music) Degree from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith (Lucknow) and was a regular artiste of All India Radio and Television.For the last 35 years, Gauri has performed internationally in many prestigious conferences/concerts and had been interviewed in the TV, Radio and by the various newspapers in India, Canada, the USA, Europe the Caribbean Islands and Sri Lanka. She has eight albums to her credit. 

In 1977, Gauri was sent by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), to the Cultural Centre, Guyana, South America, as a Cultural Officer/Music Teacher for three years. During that period, Gauri travelled extensively in Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, and Surinam, etc.Gauri is a regular teacher at the Sangeet Academy, Brussels, Belgium.  In December 2006, Gauri sang in a movie called “The Hindu Tomb” at Lille Festival, France. In July 2007, Gauri taught Indian music at a Seminar, Neufchateau, Belgium which is the biggest dance and music seminar of Europe. Gauri is in the evaluation committee of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, Calgary.  She received felicitations from the Federation of Bangladeshi Association of North America (FOBANA), the Association of Women of India in Canada (AWIC), BAPS-Swaminarayan Temple Ladies Group and received the Music Achievement Award from Creations India for her contributions in the field of music.

In April 2008, Rogers Television Bengali Channel produced and broadcast a biography on Gauri.  On October 19 to 22, 2008, Gauri performed as a key performer for consecutive four nights at Diwali Nagar, Trinidad, West Indies, which was attended by 55,000-60,000 people.Starting 2006, Gauri has performed every year at the Asian Heritage Month Festival.  She is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Virtual Museum of Asian Canadian Cultural Heritage‏ (VMACCH).  On June 4, 2009, the VMACCH produced and launched a biography on Gauri.Gauri is an examiner of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Maharashtra, India.In spite of Gauri’s serious passion and total commitment towards music, she holds a Master degree in Literature, Business Management degree and a full-time senior management position in Scotiabank.
