Pt. Debiprasad Chatterjee, an eminent sitar player of India, is highly distinguished among the musicians of India as an outstanding Sitarist of Indian classical music. He has received his extensive training from Legend Late Pandit Nikhil Banerjee for 20 years, also from a great Maestro Smt. Annapurna Devi, finally from the living legend Ustad Ali Akbar Khan since 1986. Earlier he was been guided and trained by his elder brother Pt. Biswanath Chatterjee, later on from another Sitar Maestro Pt. Aparesh Chatterjee.
He has received many Titles and Awards including the Award from the President of India. He was a National Scholar and twice he was selected by the Journalists' Association as “The Best Artist”. He has participated in music conferences almost all over India including National Progamme of Music at All India Radio and Doordarshan (TV), Radio Sangeet Sanmelan etc since long. He has toured most of the countries of the World specially in USA, Europe & Canada and was been honoured and well accepted by the audience in abroad.
As a reputed artist from Senia Maihar Gharana, his treatment over the Ragas with impeccable tonal clarity has marked him among the instrumentalists of India. He is loved by all musicians, music lovers and music critics for his mesmerising music.
Both the items, Komal Rishav Asabari & gat in Nat Bhairav of Pt. Debiprasad Chatopadhyay carries a proof of his ‘Taalim' from the great Maestro Smt. Annapurna Devi & finally from the living legend Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
