Buddhadeb Dasgupta needs no introduction to the world of sarod and classical music. His son Anirban has made a spectacular rise to worldwide recognition by imbibing his father’s style and adding to it his own splendid musicianship. He was personally blessed by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
Kafi Kanada has an extremely tender appeal steeped in emotion. It is a blend of Kafi and Kanada. Both father and son have plunged into this raga with abject surrender, forgetting the technique and embracing only the emotion. This is particularly noticable in the Vilambit Alap and Madhya Jod sections. Even in the faster passages, the emotionality speaks out.
