Young Master of Sarod

Avijit is an extremely talented Sarod player of the Seniya Maihar Gharana founded by Late Acharya Baba Allaudin Khan. He had his talim initially from Late.Prof. Dhyanesh Khan and Ustad Aashish Khan, sons of the legendary Sarod Maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Avijit is presently a senior disciple of Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar.
Avijit holds a first class M.A degree in Music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He stood first in All India Radio Music Competition in Instrumental Music in 1996 and received the President’s Gold Medal. He is a B-high Artist of A.I.R. and T.V. He is an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (I.C.C.R.) India.
Avijit has presented his Sarod recital at many important concerts in India. He performed at Bangladesh T.V. and Press Club He is the first Indian musician to perform at the Rainforest World Music Festival in 2002. He has also performed and conducted workshops at the 6th Festival of the Dhow Countries ( ZIFF) Zanzibar, in 2003 and Awesome Africa Jazz and Heritage Music Festival, Durban , South Africa in 2004.
