Immortal byArshad Ali
Arshad Ali is one of the few prodigies to live their initial promise. Born in the Kirana gharana, he has been fortunate to receive talim from his maternal uncles, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan. He is the grandson of the great sarangi maestro late Padmashree Ustad Shakoor Khan Saheb. At the age of four , he was heard by the judges of a talent contest organized by ITC Sangeet Research Academy at Delhi. He simply swept them off their feet and got selected. Since then he left his home and came to Kolkata to learn music at the ITC-SRA as its youngest scholar. Since then, he has regularly featured in the ITC Sangeet Sammelans held all over India.
With his riyaz and talim, he is upholding the traditions of one of the oldest and most beautiful gayakees of the Kirana gharana. Regularly invited to perform at the major cities of India, he has also been to Holland on a concert tour in 1997.
In 2002 he was awarded the JADUBHATTA PURASHKAR and his solo album titled “MURCHHANA” was released by Bengal Foundation, Bangladesh.
